The Harvest is a tribute to the resilient castle vine, cultural heritage, and the connection of tradition with the castle environment. It is also an opportunity to meet friends at an event co-created by the Bled Culture Institute together with the local community.
Since 2011, a descendant of the Old Vine—the world’s oldest vine, over 450 years old and a Guinness World Record holder from Maribor’s Lent—has been growing at Bled Castle. Despite the challenging conditions, it has thrived for many years. Friends of the vine gather around it at least twice a year: for the pruning in spring and for the castle harvest in autumn.
How rich this year’s vintage will be can be discovered on Saturday, 27 September 2025, at 11:00 on the upper castle terrace at an ethnologically inspired event.
At the traditional Castle Harvest, we also present the wine Mladovita, produced from the grapes of descendants of the world’s oldest vine. Since there is only a small quantity of this grape, just a few bottles are made each year for protocol purposes.
