Past event

Bled Cultural Institute and the Municipality of Bled invite you to an Open Day at Mrakova domačija (Bled, Kolodvorska cesta 5) on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

A guided tour of the architectural heritage will take place, which we are preparing in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, the Kranj Regional Office, and the Gorenjska Museums.

The event will be attended by Irena Vesel, head of the Kranj Regional Office, and Saša Roškar, conservation consultant, both from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, as well as Jana Babšek, director of the Gorenjska Museum, and dr. Ana Vrtovec Beno, senior curator from the Gorenjska Museum.

Mrak's Homestead on Rečica pri Bledu is a cultural monument of local importance that tells the story of life in the Bled countryside. The residential house is a more affluent two-story farmhouse with a preserved black kitchen and other typical rooms from the 17th century. The homestead with its preserved inventory and spatial design provides an insight into the former way of life, farm work and everyday life in the village of Rečica.

The tour of the house will take place in smaller groups, so we ask visitors to take a little more time to visit the event.

On this occasion, the doors of the Slavko Oblak Gallery, which is currently still in the furnishing phase, will also be open to visitors. Be the first to see the spaces of the sculpture gallery. Slavko Oblak grew out of this world - an artist whose form comes from experience.

You are warmly invited!

Access: Parking is possible in the central parking lot next to Infrastruktura Bled. It is only a few minutes of pleasant walk to Mrakov domačija in Rečica. In the past, people came to Mrakov grunt by ox and cart, so there is no parking there today. The walk will reward you with beautiful views of the Karavanke Mountains with Stol, Bled Castle and green Više.
