Medieval challenges in the castle park enjoyed by knights of all ages
The park at Bled Castle came alive this Sunday, May 25, with the sights and sounds of the Middle Ages! As part of the grand opening of Medieval Days, the Bled Culture Institute hosted a full-day family event that drew crowds from across Slovenia and beyond. Between 10:00 and 18:00, the park was transformed into a bustling medieval village filled with knightly tournaments, artisan workshops, merry games, and demonstrations of ancient crafts—where bravery, imagination, and laughter ruled the day.
Captivated by the knightly spirit
Visitors tried their hand at archery, axe and stone throwing, candle making, and medieval hand stiching. They also took part in toppling the wooden king and identifying old musical instruments, and even minted their own coins to take home as a keepsake from a fun-filled day. Participants collected points at each activity station, and the top three scorers were awarded prizes at a festive closing ceremony.

The castle itself was brimming with equal excitement as medieval groups brought history to life. The performers included medieval groups Cesarsko kraljevi Ptuj, Ordo Sancti Viti, Šaleška gospoda, and the musical ensemble Divja Jaga. Together with the Bled-based Sir Gašper Lambergar troupe, they created a truly historic atmosphere with thrilling sword clashing, lively dance performances, and authentic medieval music.
The festivities continue!
Until Friday, 30 May, the medieval camp will be open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 in the castle park, a amazing opportunity for children to explore the skills of knighthood, take part in creative workshops, and dance with noble ladies of the castle. Admission is free!
The highlight of the festivities will take place on Saturday, 31 May, and Sunday, 1 June, with the 17th Medieval Days at Bled Castle.
