Historical Archery at Bled Castle

Friday, 15. 05. 2026

With last night’s ceremonial opening at the Bled Festival Hall, the third international historical archery tournament has officially begun. The event will take place in Bled and Bohinjska Bela from 14 to 17 May. During this time, the Tower Gallery at Bled Castle will host the exhibition The Path of the Arrow: The Art That Flies. The exhibition presents the process of crafting unique handmade arrows by Benjamin Kuster. The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 15 May, at 6 p.m. in the Knights’ Hall.

The competition will take place on Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the green surroundings of Bled Castle and on the course in Bohinjska Bela. One of this year’s new attractions is a target on the middle terrace of Bled Castle. Competitors are divided into three different styles according to the type of bow and four categories according to age group. They must wear historical clothing that brings the spirit of medieval archery to life.

The best male and female archers will compete in the final on Sunday, 17 May, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the castle park, where visitors will be able to follow the exciting conclusion of the competition and the award ceremony.

For safety reasons, access to the competition areas will be restricted, but part of the programme will still be available for viewing. During the event, the Bledec and Višce walking trails will be closed, while all other paths will remain open and clearly marked. Appropriate directions will be provided. The organisers invite you to an event where tradition, skill, and precision come together in an unforgettable experience.
